The first image from the highly anticipated Marvel Studios film Captain America: The Winter Soldier starring Chris Evans has been released.  The film follows on from the events of the first Captain America film and follows Steve Rodgers/Captain America as he struggles to adapt to modern life.  He also has to team up with Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow, portrayed by Scarlett Johansson, to defeat a mysterious, covert powerful enemy.

The film is due for release on April 4 2014 but until then you can enjoy the first image released from the new image which shows Captain Ameica standing with his back to the camera with his famous shield in full view.

King of the Travellers an upcoming Irish drama is due out on April 19 and posters for the film have been released for the three main characters.  Peter Coonan is Mickey the bags, John Connors is John Paul and Michael Collins is Francis.  the posters can be seen below, and a synopsis and the trailer from the film can be viewed in trailers.

Escape from New York is one of the greatest action film of the 1980’s, and 1996’s Escape from L.A. is not too bad either.  Remember that disappointment that went through you when you heard that a remake for Total Recall was in the works; well prepare to feel it again

Snake Plissken the lead character portrayed in both films by Kurt Russell will be returning to our screens again in a revamp of the Escape series.  Even worse are the two main guys being touted to take on such an iconic role Jason Statham and Tom Hardy, both of whom are British?

Now I am not American but I agree with Kurt Russell when he was against Gerard Butler being cast in the film when rumours were going around a few years ago about a remake. Here is what he said: “When I was told [Butler had been cast], my initial reaction was, ‘Oh, man.’ [...] I do think [Snake Plissken] was quintessentially one thing – and that’s American.”.

I have to agree with him Snake is an American action character; the films themselves are based in America in the future also.  I am neither American nor British and I don’t want to see a remake of Snake, but if they are going to plough forward with a film please let the character be portrayed by an American.  You couldn’t and wouldn’t want to imagine an American version of James Bond after all!

Escape is a cult classic and a fantastic piece of 80’s cinema, if you have not seen it I recommend you do so before Studio Canal and Joel Silver revamp it.  I would like to point out that the information on the casting came from an insider and of course nothing on who will play the iconic role has been confirmed yet.

As I said above the film is a revamp and not a remake of either Escape film that has been released to date.  It is rumoured that the film will be a prequel, we all know how that worked out for Star Wars, in the vein of Rise of the Planet of the Apes.  It is also said to be the first in a potential trilogy.  Be sure to check The Reel World for all the latest developments on this, and more.

Some new images from the upcoming film The Wolverine have been released and there appears to be good news for fans of the character.  In one of the images Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) has blood on his claws.  Now this does not necessarily mean that the film will be a blood bath but it is something which has been missing since X-Men came along in 2000.

This fact does not make the film any better, or worse but it will make it more visually appealing.  There is no announcement on the rating of the films as of yet but more should be revealed next week when the first trailer for the film is released.

The Wolverine is one of the most anticipated films of the year and, I for one hope that it is more of a Marvel Knights production as it would be interesting to see a Wolverine film with some violence.  Until there is more information released about a rating though this is all speculation which hopefully the trailer can answer a few questions.  The Wolverine is due for release on July 26 2013, but for now you can view some images below.

Machete Kills, the sequel to 2010's Machete from Robert Rodriguez has released a few character posters over the past few weeks.  However the hype has reached a new level with the release of Desdemona, Sofia Vergara poster, which can be seen below.  This is the fourth character poster and the rest can be viewed below also, these are Sheriff Doakes, La Chameleon and Zaror.  The film is due for release on September 13 2013.

It has been a while since my last post with assignments building up I unfortunately had to neglect my child.  However I recently got out to the Cinema to see the latest film from Quentin Tarantino ‘Django Unchained’.

I had been eagerly anticipating this film and the last film which I had been looking forward to was ‘The Dark Knight Rises’, and that let me down in a terrible.  Django I am pleased to say did not and it was 165 minutes of cinematic excellence.

Jamie Foxx (Django) and Christoph Waltz (Dr. King Schultz) are the two main characters and they share a great on screen chemistry.  This is only added to when they encounter the fantastic Leonardo DiCaprio (Calvin Candie).

The film will not be to everyone’s taste with the use of the word nigger coming fast and frequent, along with the violence to the African Americans in the film.  One such scene is when a pack of dogs rip a Mandingo fighter to shreds, a scene which Tarantino himself has said that he actually cut some of the violence from.

The film has plenty of cameos including Jonah Hill, Quentin Tarantino and Don Johnson.  Don Johnson’s scenes are very memorable and focus on the first meeting of the Ku Klux Klan, which is a hilarious scene.

I would have to recommend to everyone to catch this film in the cinema, or to get it when it is released on DVD.  The film score, which Tarantino film are famous for, adds to the experience of the film.

Rarely can I say that there is no fault to this film, but this is one of those rare instances, Django Unchained is a must see and a film which will please all film fans.  See the trailer below.
